The Southside US Colored Troop Coalition will host a free community resource fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on April 18 at the Stanley Strader Park Family Center.
The event aims to connect southeast Indianapolis residents with essential services, including youth programming, education, financial health, homeownership, workforce opportunities and health resources. More than 30 vendors are expected to participate, including IndyGo, Indianapolis Fire Department, Indiana Legal Services, EmployIndy and the Marion County Public Health Department.

Organizers said the fair will also feature youth activities such as a bounce house, book mobile, fire truck, face painting and food trucks. The event is free and open to the public, with no registration required.
The coalition, supported by organizations including Herb Simon Family Foundation, Indianapolis Foundation, Allen Whitehill Clowes Charitable Foundation and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield, focuses on preserving southeast neighborhoods, documenting their historical significance and expanding economic mobility.

“These are stories untold and a community with limited resources. We have been working to build up these neighborhoods for five years. It is our intent to bring awareness, training and resources as we commit ourselves to making Indy’s southeast neighborhoods an outstanding place to learn, live, work and play,” said Kaila Austin, Southside USCTC project lead.
