“The Waiting Game” is set to premiere at Newfields during the Heartland International Film Festival on Oct. 18.
The story promises to explore themes of patience, resilience and emotional tension as the characters find themselves in situations that test their limits.
The film will also put moviegoers in the shoes of those awaiting the ABA-NBA merger of 1976.
Darnell āDr. Dunkā Hillman, who played for the Indiana Pacers during their time in the ABA, attended the filmās initial private screening. Hillman won two championships with the Indiana Pacers before the merger.
āThe documentary is going to show people a lot,ā Hillman told the Indianapolis Recorder. āSome stuff that people may have already known, but a lot of things that have never been told before.ā
Dr. Dunk also won the first Slam Dunk Contest post-merger in 1977.
The screening will take place at 6:15 p.m., offering attendees a chance to experience the drama at Newfields. With a focus on rich storytelling and captivating performances, “The Waiting Game” is expected to draw attention during the festival.
