Westfield High School senior Bahar Djour and University High School senior Jayden Seaton were selected as the outstanding delegates from Indiana to participate in Boys Nation, a prestigious leadership program held in Washington D.C. from July 21-28, 2023.

The announcement was made at Trine University during Hoosier Boys State, a program that provides young men with a unique opportunity to engage in civic education and leadership development.

During the closing ceremony and awards presentation, both boys were awarded the Breedlove Winner and the Breedlove Runner-up awards, respectively.

Djour and Seaton emerged as exemplary individuals among a pool of talented participants at Hoosier Boys State, highlighting their exceptional leadership qualities, dedication to public service and keen interest in shaping the future of their communities.

As representatives of Indiana, they will now join other distinguished young leaders from across the United States at Boys Nation, where they will engage in a week-long immersive experience in the nation’s capital.

Boys Nation, sponsored by The American Legion, is an annual program that brings together the most promising young men from each state to participate in a hands-on learning environment.

During the event, delegates get the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of the structure and functions of the federal government.

They will write bills, participate in mock Senate sessions, meet with elected officials, engage in policy debates and collaborate on legislative initiatives.

Djour has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities throughout his academic journey. He has actively contributed to various community service projects and extracurricular activities, serving as an inspiration to his peers.

Seaton has also shown remarkable commitment to leadership and community involvement. His passion for civic engagement and his drive to effect change have earned him recognition among his peers and mentors. Seaton’s selection as a Boys Nation delegate reflects his exceptional abilities and his commitment to making a difference in his community.

“We are immensely proud of Jayden Seaton and Bahar Djour for being chosen to represent Indiana at Boys Nation,” said Rich Brown, Hoosier Boys State director.

“Their outstanding achievements, leadership qualities, and dedication to public service have set them apart. We have no doubt that they will excel in this prestigious program and continue to be exemplary leaders in their communities.”
