“80 years of Black excellence” is the theme of this year’s UNCF masked ball to support higher education. The event is designed to celebrate the community’s excellence through celebration on Saturday, Nov. 24 at the JW Marriott Indianapolis.

The UNCF’s mission is to create equal opportunities for all Americans in higher education. Through their nonprofit, they give out more than $83 million in scholarships to over 7,000 students each year.

The theme of Black Excellence will be centered around the Hoosier success in business, medicine, entrepreneurship, philanthropy, sports and entertainment. Additionally, the event will honor students who have benefitted from the UNCF scholarship program.

Host and journalist Rafael Sanchez will greet the expected 1,200 attendees, while social media influencer The Polished Lady will be hosting the gold carpet and the VIP experience.

In addition to the esteemed hosts, the gala will spotlight the work of eight African American mayors from across Indiana. The event will also highlight top executives and athletes who have impacted their community.

“UNCF Indiana is committed to fostering continuous growth alongside its partners. Together, we aim to expand opportunities for minority students, empowering them to forge bright futures filled with achievement and contribution,” UNCF said in a press release.

The event will be sponsored by the Lilly Endowment Inc., Eli Lilly and Company, IU Health and the Indianapolis chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. UNCF thanked both the sponsors and the city in the announcement as they prepare for the event.

“The UNCF Indianapolis Area Office expresses deep gratitude to the Indianapolis community for its steadfast support in investing in brighter futures. Through this support, deserving students receive crucial opportunities to pursue higher education and cultivate successful careers.”
