The UNCF Indianapolis Area Office proudly reports the successful conclusion of the 2023 Indianapolis Masked Ball held last Saturday on December 2, 2023. The formal black-tie benefit, held at the JW Marriott Indianapolis was attended by over 700 guests.

The event, hosted by the multi-award-winning anchor and investigative reporter, Rafael Sanchez, saw a gathering of eminent personalities, such as The Honorable Mayor Joseph Hogsett, Rep. Gregory W. Porter, and Planning Committee Chair Donielle Martin of Optum Insight. It is a pleasure to announce that the Ball raised more than $460,422 and counting.

Presenting Sponsors Eli Lilly and Company, and Strada Education Foundation, and returning sponsors NIPSCO, IU Health along with other businesses and organizations, joined forces to contribute towards this meaningful cause. Their generosity and dedication to the mission of UNCF played a significant role in the success of the event.

The highlight of the evening was the presentation of inspiring speeches by Dennis Richmond, Jr., a UNCF scholar and Walton Family Fellow, and Dr. Quiona “Q.” Russell. Another memorable moment of the night was the challenge issued by Dr. Russell to all Divine-9 members to match or exceed the $19,000 donated by the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Another key moment was the unveiling of the Inaugural class of Master Mind cohorts. These emerging young professionals have been nominated by community and company leaders, for illustrating brilliance and fortitude. They have also demonstrated their commitment towards assisting even more students in achieving their higher education goals by partnering with UNCF.

Special thanks to the Indianapolis high school students who served as the evening’s volunteers, their leaders, Dr. Ruth Woods, and Cheryl Wilkerson, and to Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Kenny Lattimore for providing the musical entertainment.

UNCF Indiana looks forward to continuous growth with their partners as they strive to create more opportunities for minority students and empower them to carve out bright futures for themselves.
