Growing Places Indy is accepting applications for its farm apprenticeship programs, Grow Getters and Young Grow Getters.

Grow Getters, a year-long program that provides hands-on training and mentorship to prepare a new generation of urban farmers. Those selected will learn sustainable farming practices to strengthen the local food supply. Grow Getters will receive hands-on farm job training, land access, equipment, mentoring and more.

Applicants must be 18 years old or older and have at least one year of continuing education or post-high school experience, able to commit at least 20 to 25 hours a week for the duration of the program and have an interest in urban agriculture or impacting the local food system.

Young Grow Getters is a paid six-week program for high school students and provides hands-on farming experience and engagement with the local food system. Industry professionals will offer lessons sustainable farming, culinary arts, food production, technology and career-readiness skills.

Applicants for Young Grow Getters must be between the ages of 15-18 and are expected to work an average of 15 hours per week for a total of 90 hours for the duration of the program.

Applications will be accepted Jan. 20 through April 30. Applicants who are chosen will be notified in May, and the program begins June 6. Visit growingplacesindy.org to learn more and to apply.
