Rev. Mmoja Ajabu is known for many things. The clergyman, activist and former Black Panther militia leader has hit the airwaves with his new internet radio show, “After Naked Truth.”
“The concept of the show came from an African fable,” Ajabu said. “Truth was known to be an impeccable dresser. Truth was looking for a way to get cool and walked near a pond and decided to skinny dip and put his clothes on a bush. Truth didn’t know that he was being stalked by Lie. Lie snuck up and stole his clothes. Truth jumped up out of the water, and what you had then was the naked truth chasing a well dressed lie.”
Some of the well-dressed lies he plans to uncover include issues with local and national politics, education and other timely issues.
“It’s hard for a prophet to be recognized in his own hometown. I go outside of Indianapolis and the love that’s extended to me sometimes makes me want to cry. In Indianapolis, it’s hard to get anything done, because (the leadership) is bought and paid for,” he said. “There needs to be another prophetic voice in Indianapolis. We can’t keep listening to these established preachers, elected officials; it’s time for them to go. If folks can’t stand the truth, don’t listen to me.”
“After Naked Truth” airs Saturdays from 1:30–2 p.m. on 91.9 WITT-FM and online at 919witt.org.
