Lilly Endowment Helps Support Y’s Mission of Strengthening the Spirit, Mind and Body The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis announced today that it has hired Joshua Heaston, the organizations first full-time Chaplain.
Heaston will be a key liaison between YMCA centers and the community to help provide spiritual support for members, staff and volunteers. He will also work with the YMCA Christian Emphasis Committee to help establish partnerships with congregations and a volunteer Chaplaincy program for each center.
“We are so thankful to Lilly Endowment for helping us create this new ministry position, and we look forward to having solid programs put in place within the YMCA to help spiritually impact people should they desire our help,” said Eric Ellsworth, President/CEO, YMCA of Greater Indianapolis.
Pastor Heaston was ordained through the Vineyard Church and comes from the YMCA of Greater Toledo where he served in a similar position for the last eight years. He is married with four children and began his new position with the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis on June 3.
