Christamore House gets new Colts-theme fitness room

More by this author

For 37 years, the NFL and United Way have partnered to strengthen communities across America. On Oct. 18, the Colts will continue that partnership by teaming up with United Way of Central Indiana (UWCI) to host the annual Hometown Huddle event, presented by Indiana Wesleyan University.

For this year’s event, the Colts and Indiana Wesleyan University helped create a fitness room at Christamore House, a United Way agency, as part of the NFL’s PLAY 60 initiative, which encourages youth to be active at least 60 minutes each day.

The Colts-themed room will be used by hundreds of youth each week to provide them with a fun and safe place to be active indoors.

Colts players, along with Blue and representatives from UWCI, Christamore House and Indiana Wesleyan, will unveil the new fitness room during a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The room, which previously had not been used, is now painted to resemble the Colts locker room and features new flooring, fitness equipment, a universal workout machine, two Wii Fit systems with flat screen TVs and Colts memorabilia.

Following the ribbon-cutting, Colts players will help youth from Christamore House get active in their new room by participating in some fitness activities with them and challenging them on the Wii Fit system.

The renovations were made possible through contributions from the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Wesleyan University, NFL Charities, hhgregg, Fatheads and Sherwin-Williams.
