Students across Indianapolis participated in National Walkout Day to show solidarity with victims of gun violence and to demand better laws.
At Broad Ripple High School, students shouted the names of shooting victims before taking part in a moment of silence outside of the school.Ā
Jasmine Murphy, student council president, said after she heard about the National Walkout Day she wanted to make sure her school had a chance to take part. She hopes the demonstration will inspire leaders to rethink gun control laws.
Jasmine Murphy
āWe believe that gun laws are flawed,ā said Murphy. āI hope people see the numbers, see the amount of people who want to change things. These are our future leaders, teachers, mothers and the change starts young. We hope they will be inspired to take action, be it for or against the laws.ā
