Keys is player of the week

More by this author

This week’s player of the week is Jaynard Keys from Thomas Carr Howe Community High School. The junior running back/wide receiver led the Hornets to a 20-12 stunning victory over Arsenal Technical High School.

Keys finished the game with 249 all purpose yards (101 rushing, 96 receiving and one punt return for 53 yards) and two touchdowns.

GAMES OF THE WEEK:

Arsenal Tech at Boyle County, Kentucky:

After a disappointing defeat to Howe last Friday, the Titans look to rebound against the Kentucky class 4A back to back state champions. The Boyle County Rebels have a great football tradition and average over 8,000 fans at home games. This will be a tough task for the Titans with injuries to some key players. If the Titans can pull off the upset it could give them the momentum they need to start their run.

Warren Central vs. North Central:

After a 2-0 start, the North Central Panthers have lost two MIC conference games. The Warren Central Warriors are coming off a 27-21 emotional victory against Ben Davis and could be primed for a let down. The Panthers are looking for their early season offensive firepower but could be in for trouble against the explosive and star-studded Warrior defense.

Avon vs. Brownsburg:

The 4-0 Brownsburg Bulldogs look to stay undefeated when they face off against neighbor and arch rival Avon in what promises to be a battle in Lucas Oil. The Bulldogs are looking to avenge their playoff loss to Avon from last year. Brownsburg’s triple option offense is running on all cylinders thus far but the physical Orioles will prove to be a formidable foe. After a week one defeat to Hamilton Southeastern, the Orioles are riding a three game winning streak into Lucas Oil Stadium Friday night. If you like old school physical football, this is a game you do not want to miss.

Broad Ripple at Thomas Carr Howe:

After an upset victory over Arsenal Tech, the 2-2 Howe Hornets are hoping they have found their groove. They will have to stop quarterback Randy Morton and the Rocket attack. The Rockets are coming off a disappointing 44-21 loss to Brebeuf and want to start conference play with a victory. If you like wide open offenses and speed, this will be a great game to go see.
