PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — Extra police are on the streets of the Haitian capital as the country prepares for preliminary results from last month’s presidential election.

Many shops have covered their windows with plywood in case riots break out following the announcement. U.N. peacekeepers and Haitian national police have stepped up patrols around the country.

The electoral council was scheduled to announce the results Monday.

The presidential runoff featured former first lade Mirlande Manigat against musician Michel Martelly, who is known as “Sweet Micky.”

The announcement of results of the first round sparked nearly three days of rioting that paralyzed the capital.
