River Road, is offering two delicious Indianapolis 500-inspired cocktails that are sure to put diners in a winning spirit.
When I arrived at Ocean Prime, I was impressed by the posh, yet modern, atmosphere. I decided to take advantage of the nice weather by eating in their outdoor dining area. The friendly staff made sure I felt right at home and answered all questions I had about the menu.
I inquired about their most popular drinks and they suggested I try “Berries & Bubbles.” Its ingredients include a mixture of citrus-flavored vodka, marinated blackberries and champagne poured over dry ice to create an effervescent “smoky” effect. The glitzy appearance did not overshadow the drink’s flavor; it was one of the most delicious cocktails I have tasted in my life. I was happy to hear that this drink was not a part of the Indianapolis 500 promotion and thus served year-round, giving me an opportunity to come back for seconds.
After ordering a salad and snacking on house bread, my waiter introduced me to the Indy 500-inspired drinks. Diners can pop champagne in celebration of their favorite driver crossing the finish line with “Sparkling Grapefruit,” a fruity champagne cocktail. If you’d rather your drink mirror Race Day tradition, try the “Spiked Milk.” This vanilla-flavored cocktail is inspired by the long-standing custom of the Indy 500 winner drinking a bottle of milk on Victory Lane.
After sampling the 500-themed drinks, I was eager to see what dining options Ocean Prime had to offer. I started with the Sonoma Goat Cheese Ravioli, one of seven appetizers on the menu. For my main course, I had a filet mignon. Served alongside a tasty loaded potato, the tender cut of meat did not disappoint. There are plenty of accessory options to accompany the steaks, including garlic shrimp scampi and black truffle butter.
I left Ocean Prime with a full belly and a desire to find an excuse to come back, if only to have a second taste of their tender prime steak and delicious “Berries & Bubbles.” Whether you come by for the perfect cocktail to drink while celebrating the big race, or you simply are looking for a new place to treat yourself for dinner, Ocean Prime is definitely worth the pit stop.
