In one of its first moves as Turnaround School Operator for Arlington Community High School, locally based EdPower has hired Jimmy Meadows as principal, effective July 1.
Meadows most recently served as principal at Stonybrook Middle School, which was awarded a grant in September of 2010 for exceeding district benchmarks in the areas of student attendance, standardized test results and community partnerships.
“We are confident that Jimmy Meadows has the experience and talent to effect positive and lasting change at Arlington,” said Marcus Robinson, CEO of EdPower. “Meadows will play an integral role in our strategy to build up Arlington’s systems to support student success and achievement, and ultimately return a more successful school to its Indianapolis Public School (IPS) district.”
Throughout 2010 and 2011, Meadows hosted and advised several intermediate, middle and high schools from across the state at Stonybrook for the Indiana Department of Education initiative to improve failing schools.
“Meadows’ expertise in leading and strengthening schools will be a valuable asset as we implement systems that will help students at Arlington perform at an even higher academic level,” Robinson said.
A former IPS student and a 1991 graduate of Warren Central High School, Meadows earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Indiana University and a master’s degree in education administration from Butler University.
Meadows is an ordained deacon at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church, is married and has three children.
