Citizens Energy Group announced a series of water main replacements in the Martindale-Brightwood neighborhood as part of its ongoing infrastructure renewal efforts.

Starting in April and continuing throughout 2025, the project will coincide with the replacement of customer-owned lead service lines, a program introduced in the neighborhood in early 2024.

Project overview

The water main replacements aim to ensure continued reliable service and complement Citizens’ lead service line replacement program. Construction will occur at approximately a dozen sites, temporarily impacting vehicular traffic on affected streets.

Lead service line replacement program

The lead service line replacement program targets customer-owned lines made of lead, especially in homes built before 1950. While Citizens’ water remains compliant with federal and state quality standards, replacing lead service lines eliminates any risk of exposure to lead in drinking water.
