The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) introduced a new Pollution Prevention (P2) Toolkit designed to help Indiana businesses implement effective, low-cost strategies for reducing pollution and conserving resources.
This free program focuses on equipping small businesses and manufacturers with the tools and knowledge needed to reduce or eliminate waste at the source. By encouraging the adoption of best practices for managing water, energy, air, raw materials and other resources, IDEM aims to support businesses in cutting costs while improving environmental outcomes.

The toolkit offers a range of resources, including informational sheets, checklists and access to live webinars. Additionally, businesses can benefit from confidential compliance assistance provided by IDEM’s Compliance and Technical Assistance (CTAP) staff. This comprehensive approach ensures that businesses of all sizes and capacities can participate in pollution prevention efforts, aligning with current regulatory standards and sustainability goals.
As part of the initiative, IDEM will host a series of Lunch & Learn webinars. The first session, “Detecting and Fixing Air Compressor Leaks,” is from noon to 12:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday, July 23. This 30-minute online session will provide practical guidance on identifying and repairing leaks in air compressor systems. Attendees will gain access to resources such as an information sheet and a companion checklist to aid in the implementation of these strategies.

The P2 Toolkit Program is open to all Indiana businesses subject to regulatory requirements, providing a user-friendly entry point for companies looking to enhance their environmental performance without incurring significant costs. Registration for the July 23 webinar closes on Tuesday, July 22, and interested participants can register through IDEM’s website.
