Indy Drag Theatre’s (IDT) 2026 season is here — along with a venue change.

Founded by Blair St. Clair and April Rosé in 2022, The District Theatre has been the IDT’s home for the last four years. Following a successful 2025 season, which included three drag musicals and IDT’s first stage play, the company announced on Jan. 21 an expansion to both its offerings and venue space by moving to the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre, according to a press release.

“We’re committed to centering queer storylines and embracing the idea that drag is not only nightlife entertainment,” St. Clair, artistic director and co-founder of IDT, said in a statement. “We thrive on thinking outside the box and breaking the mold.”

Indy Drag Theatre aspires to create a safe space to experiment with self-expression, exaggerated characterization, costumes and makeup, while inviting audiences to do the same.

IDT’s 2026 season kicks off at the Phoenix Theatre with “SIX: A Drag Parody Musical,” running March 5-8 and 13-15. Inspired by the hit Broadway pop-musical “Six,” IDT’s production aims to be a high-energy reimagining of King Henry VIII’s ex-wives as they rewrite their stories through “a fierce (lip) singing competition,” according to the press release.

In the spring, IDT takes a break from the traditional theater stage in favor of producing its first improv comedy show, “Snatch Game of Love: A Live Parody Gameshow.” Performed in the style of RuPaul’s ultimate celebrity impersonation challenge, a panel of superstars will compete for the heart of an eligible “snatchelor.”

“Snatch Game of Love” aims to highlight the range of IDT’s talented artists and actors in a one-night-only performance scheduled for May. 23 at the White Rabbit Cabaret.

Closing out the season, IDT presents “Night School: A Drag Parody Musical” Aug. 21-23 and 28-30 at the Phoenix Theatre Cultural Center. Evoking the “campy” stylings of the Disney Channel original musical, “Night School” follows the East High Wildcats as they “break free from the status quo and embrace the start of something new,” according to a press release.

“We invite everyone to audition for any role they desire, and we prioritize fierce character expression over traditional gender expectations when casting,” Rosé, creative director and co-founder, said in a statement. “I see IDT as one of the safest places for queer people in Indianapolis. Our bonds extend beyond the rehearsal room and into our community, making us feel at home wherever we go.”

IDT’s new home, The Phoenix Theatre Cultural Centre, is located at 705 N. Illinois St. Free parking is available at 714 N. Illinois Street.
