“Your voice is your power. Use it,” said Tenise Cornelius, president of the National Council of 100 Black Women (NCBW), Indianapolis Chapter.
Cornelius and the NCBW invite the public to join their organization in advocating for Black women and girls at the Statehouse on Thursday, Feb. 26 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.

Their goal is to, “take a stand and engage in vital discussions on maternal health, mental health and education,” according to a statement from the organization.
The agenda for the day features panel discussions, audience Q&A and a keynote address from clinical psychologist, Valerie McCray. The topics will address issues affecting Black women and girls.
“Letās move the needle on the issues that matter to our community,” Cornelius said.
The Indianapolis chapter of the NCBW was founded in 1982 with a “vision to see Black women and girls live in a world where socio-economic inequity does not exist,” according to their website.
āāThe NCBW Advocacy Day at the Statehouse is free and open to the public; registration is required. Lunch will be provided for registered attendees.
