Excitement is building in the Mid-North neighborhoods as framing of the new Illinois Place Apartments takes shape. Skilled workers are needed for completion of the redevelopment project. They will have an opportunity to learn more about potential jobs for that project and others this Wednesday.
The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, The Whitsett Group, LLC, and TWG Construction LLC, invite residents and others to learn about construction-related job opportunities on April 10 from 10 a.m. ā 1 p.m. at The Childrenās Museum of Indianapolis. Companies with sub-contracts for specific trade work will be onsite to meet job candidates. The Whitsett Group will also provide employment information for other Indianapolis projects at the event.
Illinois Place, a two-building, 50 unit complex replaces the former Winona Memorial Hospital that was situated between Illinois and North Meridian at West 33rd. In 2004, the 50-year old medical facility sank into bankruptcy and shut its doors.
The Childrenās Museum of Indianapolis and the City of Indianapolis formed a private-public partnership to build the affordable housing complex. The City donated the former Winona property to a new company formed by the museum known as TRex Enterprises, LLC.
Based on household size, tenants earning 60 percent or less of the median income for the Indianapolis metropolitan statistical area (MSA) will be eligible to begin the application process in mid-July. That means that a one-person household earning up to $27,360 annually would be income eligible to apply for an apartment.
