More than 18,000 Greater Indianapolis-area kids have signed up for Lemonade Day but the sign-up “window” is closing soon. Kids can sign up for Lemonade Day at the Indianapolis Public Library Central Branch, inside the Learning Curve, located at 40 E. St Clair St. or call (317) 275-4100.
Kids who have participated in previous years should register for Lemonade Day at indianapolis.lemonadeday.org.
Presented by Teachers Credit Union, Ice Miller and ChaCha, Lemonade Day is a free Indianapolis area initiative designed to teach kids how to start, own, and operate their own business: a lemonade stand! Youth participants will “open up shop” on May 18, throughout the nine-county region, including in Indy Parks.
“We’re in the ‘home stretch’ now, with less than two weeks until Lemonade Day. We want to be sure the remaining 1,000+ backpacks get into the hands of children, as there are valuable lessons in entrepreneurship in the included workbook,” said Lemonade Day Director, Jami Marsh.
“Indy Parks is proud to support Lemonade Day, as it teaches responsibility and business skills to Indianapolis youth. We want to see those budding entrepreneurs out there on Saturday, May 18,” added Indy Parks Director, John Williams.
About Lemonade Day – Lemonade Day is a national initiative. Scott Jones started Lemonade Day in Indianapolis after entrepreneur and founder
Michael Holthouse approached him to spearhead the initiative. In 2010, Lemonade Day’s inaugural year in Indianapolis, more than 7,400 kids participated.
Last year, the number rose to 15,000. Collectively, last year’s participants generated more than $2.4 million in revenues on one day!
