Recognizing the demand throughout central Indiana for therapeutic services in accessible locations, Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) Autism Services by Damar Specialized Services LLC selected a Geist-area location at 9905 Fall Creek Road (intersection of 79th Street and Fall Creek Road). At the same time, Damar has expanded services at its main campus, at 6067 Decatur Blvd. on Indianapolis’ southwest side.
These additional service options come at a time when the rate of autism is on the rise – with as many as one in 50 U.S. school-age children now having a diagnosis, up 72 percent since 2007. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is recognized as the best-practice treatment for children with autism, helping them address the challenges with communication, social interaction, and restricted and repetitive behavior common in autism. In fact, many ABA programs are now covered under Medicaid and private insurance programs.
ABA applies the principles of Behavior Analysis to bring about meaningful and positive behavior change and skill development. ABA principles and techniques can foster basic and more complex skills – allowing children with autism to more effectively interact with and respond to their environment.
However, some children are not appropriate for ABA and require other forms of support and intervention to achieve basic goals.
