Residents of the Indianapolis community are invited to community wellness day on Saturday, August 16 to celebrate health and learn more about how you and your family can stay well. Join us at Saint Neri Catholic Church, 550 North Rural Street, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to get life-saving information on cancer prevention and early detection, and improving your health.
The event will focus on colorectal cancer prevention and encourage colorectal cancer screening for adults age 50 and older. Also offered will be blood pressure screenings and more.
The wellness event is organized by Shalom Health Care Center and made possible by a grant from Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation and the American Cancer Society. The funds help community health centers reduce the cancer burden in their communities by providing access to resources that help individuals to prevent cancer and find cancer early.
āWe know early screenings and education is the first step to help prevent cancer, so weāre pleased to partner with the American Cancer Society to bring this valuable free community event to local residents where they will be able to access needed information and resources on cancer prevention,ā said Dr. Joe Fox, medical director for Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield in Indiana.
