The Vital Records Office at the Indiana State Department of Health will be open during Primary Election Day May 6 between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3 p.m. to accommodate individuals seeking to get birth certificates in order to apply for state identification from the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
Indiana residents must present a photo ID before casting a ballot at the polls on primary day.
All full-service license branches of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles will be open to issue driver licenses and ID cards from 6 a.m.-7 p.m. (local time) on Primary Election Day. In addition, the full-service branches will be open on May 5, from 8:30 a.m.-8 p.m. The Bureau of Motor Vehicles branches are normally closed on Mondays.
Individuals seeking birth certificates will need to go to 6 W. Washington St. in downtown Indianapolis. The entrance is located across from Circle Centre Mall and west of the intersection of Meridian and Washington streets.
