The descendants and the program moderator are (left to right) Arthur McFarlane, great-grandson of W.E.B. Du Bois; Dr. Charlene Drew Jarvis, daughter of Dr. Charles Richard Drew (blood bank developer); moderator Zada Johnson, Ph.D., assistant professor of inner-city studies education at the Jacob Carruthers Center for Inner City Studies (Northeastern Illinois University); A’Lelia Bundles, great-great-granddaughter of Madam C.J. Walker; and Michelle Duster, great-granddaughter of Ida B. Wells. The event was produced by panelist Bundles. (Photo/S. C. Peters)
