AES Indiana submits request to acquire battery storage project

More by this author

AES Indiana is seeking approval to acquire, construct and recover costs for a battery storage project, the Crossvine renewable project, in Dubois County.

Crossvine is a solar plus battery storage project expected to bring additional wattage and hours of solar and battery capacity to AES’ portfolio once completed in mid-2027.

The project is anticipated to generate enough solar power annually to supply the energy equivalent of 14,500 homes.

“The investment in Crossvine is the next step in our decade-long energy transition that includes diverse and cleaner energy solutions for our customers,” said Brandi Davis-Handy, AES Indiana President. “How we serve our customers will continue to evolve due to factors like new technologies, the aging of our current facilities, environmental regulations and economic conditions, and Crossvine is an important part in how we’re increasing generation in our portfolio and aligns with our state’s all-of-the-above energy policy.”

AES receives $100,000 to help aid customers in need

Crossvine will join AES’ portfolio of renewable projects in Benton and Clinton Counties. Together, the three projects are expected to generate the equivalent power for 63,000 homes.

The project fulfills a need identified by AES Indiana’s Integrated Resource Plan, which includes transitioning coal-powered units to natural gas and adding wind, solar and battery capacity over the next five years.
