Indiana HIEs Team for Stimulus Grants

More by this author

Five health information exchanges in Indiana and four state organizations have jointly applied for HIE funding under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Participants in the collaboration anticipate receiving $8-10 million in grant funding from the $300 million available in stimulus funds.

States across the nation have applied for grants, under which states will provide a modest amount of matching funds, starting with at least $1 for every $10 in federal funds.

Indiana HIEs participating in the grant application include HealthBridge, HealthLINC, Indiana Health Information Exchange, MedWeb and Michiana Health Information Network. The HIEs have formed a new governance organization, Indiana Health Information Technology Inc., to promote alliances and innovation among the exchanges.

Participating state organizations are the Family and Social Services Administration, Indiana Department of Health, Indiana Economic Development Corporation and Indiana Health Informatics Corporation.
