Follow the yellow brick road to Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre’s 2024 season family show.

On stage now through July 7, Beef & Boards’ production of “The Wizard of Oz” brings L. Frank Baum’s classic adventure to life on stage through classic songs and familiar characters. Sponsored in part by Indy’s Child, the family-friendly production follows Dorothy Gale, a farm girl from Kansas as she is introduced to the magical land of Oz and some of its many residents on her journey to find her way back home.

Although “The Wizard of Oz” first premiered on Broadway in 1902 — just two years after Baum’s children’s book was released — the version seen on stages across the country today is adapted from the 1939 MGM film and was scripted by John Kane in 1987.

The show features the same beloved characters in addition to the music from the film, including “We’re Off to See the Wizard,” “The Merry Old Land of Oz,” “Follow the Yellow Brick Road” and “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.”

Beef & Boards’ production stars Grace Atherholt as Dorothy Gale, Jameelah Leaundra as Glinda the Good Witch, Joey Boos as Scarecrow, Jaden Kindle as the Tin Man, Brett Mutter as the Cowardly Lion and Ty Stover as the title character. The munchkins are played by local children.

“The Wizard of Oz” is showing at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, 9301 Michigan Road, for 57 performances through July 7 weekdays and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., Sunday evenings 7 p.m. and select matinees at 1 p.m. A dinner buffet and select beverages will be available prior to each show.

Tickets range from $55-$82 with $10 discounts for children ages 3-15. More information about the show schedule can be found at beefandboards.com.
