At 14-12, Owen Valley was a bit of surprise team at this point in the state tournament, and it looks like Attucks wasnāt messing around with an upset bid. The Tigers got double-digit points from four players, including 22 from junior Sincere McMahon, who also added six assists.

Attucks had a much tougher opponent in the final with Beech Grove, which hadnāt lost since Feb. 6. McMahon led the Tigers again with 22 points, and senior Jaiquan Edwards added 20. Attucks got almost 30 percent of its points (20 of 68) from the free-throw line. For those who donāt know, Beech Groveās run in the state tournament was emotional for many, since the Hornets lost former head coach Matt English to brain cancer in December 2018.

Attucks has an advantage here with experience. The Tigers just played in their third straight regional, and they were in this exact position in 2017. Meanwhile, Silver Creek (23-3) has only been to semi-state twice before (2000 and 1969) and has never advanced to the state title game.
