The CALIFORNIA Nurses Association reported in September that health plans in the state rejected more than one in five claims from 2002 through June 30 of this year
based on analysis of financial data submitted to the Department of Managed Care. The state Association of Health Plans responded, “A good deal of the so-called denials are merely paperwork issues between providers and plans and have little financial impact on consumers or impact the care received.”
INDIANA and OHIO: The nation’s first multi-state health information exchange went live in September. HealthBridge in Cincinnati, Indiana Health Information Exchange in Indianapolis, and HealthLINC in Bloomington, Indiana, connect more than 15,000 physicians, 50 hospitals, and 12 million patient records.
