SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) — The Illinois Broadcasters Association says talk show host Oprah Winfrey will be the latest nationally prominent Chicago-area broadcaster joining its Hall of Fame.
The group on Monday announced Winfrey will be inducted at a May 3 luncheon. Winfrey’s talk show, “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” will go off the air this year after 25 years. Winfrey started the show in Chicago during the 1980s.
Association president and CEO Dennis Lyle called Winfrey “the epitome of broadcasting excellence.”
