Editor-in-Chief Camike Jones won first place for best editorial writer.
Health and Environmental reporter Jade Jackson took first place in best feature profile for her piece, “From dope to dogs: How one man is bringing hot dogs and hustle to Martindale-Brightwood.”
Jackson illustrates the story of how one man turned his life around, transitioning from selling drugs to selling hot dogs.

Staff also took third place for best headline writing, including headlines like “Financial literacy: Xs and Os from the most important playbook of your life,” “Trusting the process: The trials and tribulations of Tre Moore” and “Chocolate phoenix: The story of pioneering aviator Willa Brown.”
