The Indianapolis Public Library’s annual Fall Fest is back with fun for the whole family and guest speaker Kim Fields.

Presented by the African American History Committee in Support of the Center for Black Literature and Culture, Fall Fest 2023 is Nov. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. at Central Library.

The Fall Fest will feature interactive fun and games for kids and parents, including the Slammin’ Rhymes Challenge XVII Poetry Contest.

The annual contest is open to all students grades 7-12 and aims to showcase talent in the form of poetry, spoken word and rap. Students are invited to write and enter pieces inspired by this year’s theme: Freedom.

Each entry will receive a gift card and ten selectees will get to read their entries at the Fall Fest. The deadline to enter is Nov. 1, 2023. To download and fill out the entry form, visit spirit.indypl.org/slammin.

There will also be a keynote speech from actress and director Kim Fields.

Best known for NBC’s “Facts of Life” and FOX’s “Living Single,” Fields has become a household name and global pop-culture icon. Currently starring in the Netflix comedy series “The Upshaws,” Fields demonstrates versatility as a performer both in front of and behind the camera.

Fall Fest 2023 is Nov. 18 from noon to 4 p.m. at Central Library. Tickets are free. For more information about IndyPL’s 2023 Fall Fest, visit indypl.org/programs-events/fall-fest
