More by this author

The Center for Leadership Development is hosting its 16th annual College Prep Conference. The event will take place Sept. 16 from 9:00 a.m.- 4:30 p.m. at the Indiana Convention Center. The event is open to eighth- through twelfth- grade students and their parents or guardians.

The Center for Leadership Development prides itself on instilling skills, confidence and hands-on guidance in youth that will help them develop personally and professionally.

The purpose of the conference and college fair is to provide an understanding to students and parents about the college readiness process. Students and parents will attend various sessions and panels depending on their grade levels to supply them with knowledge about their upcoming academic ventures. Sessions include but are not limited to graduation pathways, life as a successful student athlete, college admissions after affirmative action and more.

During lunch, Keynote Speaker Shannon D. Reed, national director of Young Men United, will speak to participants about how to successfully matriculate through high school and college and transition into their respective careers.

Tickets are $25 and available here. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. Eighth-grade students are required to be accompanied by an adult 21 or older.
