The Salvation Army of Central Indiana calls on the community to double their generosity this holiday season.Ā

The initiative, known as the $100,000 Kettle Match, amplifies contributions during the final stretch of the holiday season. With the match in place, a $20 donation turns into $40, extending the impact of each gift.

From Dec. 18-24, Christmas Eve, every dollar donated to a physical Red Kettle or through the Virtual Red Kettle will be matched dollar-for-dollar, thanks to the support of local donors.

These contributions help the organization reach its $3.6 million Christmas campaign target. The funds ensure vital programs such as food assistance, shelter and family support services can continue year-round.

Area Commander for The Salvation Army of Central Indiana Major Malinda O’Neil said the donation match allows for a more significant effect.

“This match gives donors a chance to make an even bigger difference,” O’Neil said. “More families will be helped, more pantries will be full and more children will experience the joy of Christmas because of this effort.”

The funds raised during the holiday season directly support programs that transform lives. Over 5,000 children benefit from the Angel Tree and Toy Shop programs during Christmas. Donations sustain critical services, including rent and utility assistance and emergency shelters. Every dollar stays within Central Indiana, making a tangible difference in the lives of local neighbors.

O’Neil said that people can donate in more ways than dollars.

“Your time is as valuable as your donations,” O’Neil said. “By ringing the bell, you are helping provide food, warmth and hope to those who need it most. Without ringers, we don’t have a kettle out, and we need all our kettles to make this match.”
