Eric Gordon Jr. and Super Shootout Inc. have announced the 2011 Eric Gordon Super Shootout Boys and Girls All-Star Teams.

Selected by city and county high school coaches, the teams are filled with Marion County’s top talented male and female high school senior basketball players.

The 19th annual showcase for local basketball talent, the 2011 Eric Gordon Super Shootout All-Star Games will be April 16 at the University of Indianapolis. Doors open at noon.

“Every game over the last 19 years has had its own distinctive flare, but this year we are looking forward to an even more exciting contest by both the boys’ and girls’ teams,” said Chris Reeder, Super Shootout Inc. president and co-founder.

Along with the new location this year, the format for the Girls All-Star Team has changed from the traditional city vs. county teams to the West vs. East All-Stars where the all-star coaches selected their players from the pool of top female senior players.

The Girls West All-Stars, coached by Ben Davis High School’s Stan Benge, (who led his No. 1 nationally-ranked Lady Giants to two consecutive state championships under a perfect season in 2010), will take on the Girls East All-Stars, coached by Matt Williams, head coach for Covenant Christian High School, 2011 Girls City Tournament Runners-Up.

“I’m excited about the girls’ new East-West format,” said Eric Gordon Jr., leading scorer for the NBA’s Los Angeles Clippers and host of the annual Marion County high school all-star games. “Mixing up the city and county talent gives the girls a chance to play with players they may have never played with before, and also makes the game a lot more competitive.”

Reeder added, “We expect this year’s Girls’ contest to be really exciting and possibly the best in Super Shootout history!”
