Marion County Election Board seeking hundreds of applicants for paid election positions

More by this author

The Marion County Election Board and Clerk Myla A. Eldridge are asking for help with absentee ballots this election season. The board is in need of 600 workers, both Democrat and Republican, to fill counter and courier positions on Election Day. Courier hours are from 5 a.m.ā€“2 p.m. (pay rate of $70), 5 a.m.ā€“7 p.m. (pay rate of $110) or 5 a.m.ā€“midnight (pay rate of $150). Counter hours are from 9 a.m.ā€“7 p.m. (pay rate of $70), 9 a.m.ā€“midnight (pay rate of $110) or 6 p.m.ā€“midnight (pay rate of $70). Counters also have the option of working on Nov. 9, 10 or 11 and will earn $70 per day.

Without the adequate number of workers, the board reports that election results may not be available on Nov. 8 and are at risk of being held up for multiple days after the election.

All absentee ballots will be centrally counted at the Marion County Election Boardā€™s Service Center, which is located at 3737 E. Washington St. in the Sherman Commons Shopping Center.

Interested applicants should contact Marion County Election Boardā€™s office at (317) 327-2150 for more information.
