The first annual Black Men Matter Young Men’s Conference will kick off Saturday, April 18th 2015 on the Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis Campus in the Multicultural Center. The event, hosted by the Black Men Matter Committee a collective group of men and clergy members in Indianapolis and the surrounding area, is aimed toward young men entering 9th through 12th grade.

The one-day conference will feature a number of prominent speakers from local and state government, corporate America, academia, intercollegiate athletics as well as many college student leaders.

“We must change the conversation with our young men and be more inspiring and empowering.,” said event organizer Pastor Shaune Shelby.

“We want to let them know they matter- thus the name Black Men Matter. From the colors in our logo to the make up of the conference… it’s all about creating pride,  to have courage in the face of challenges and awareness of who they are,” he said. Shelby added that although the conference is titled for Black men, all are welcome to support.

The Black Men Matter Young Men’s Conference will take place Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 8:00 a.m. at the IUPUI Multicultural Center 815 W. Michigan Street, Taylor Hall Room 115. Indianapolis, In 46202.
