Still time to see ‘Church Basement Ladies’

“Church Basement Ladies, a Second Helping,” is nearing the completion of its run at Beef & Board Dinner Theatre.

The fun-packed musical about women who cook for church events in a rural Minnesota town will serve its last meal on Aug. 28.

Next up will be “Singin’ in the Rain,” the stage version of one of MGM’s most celebrated films. It will be presented from Sept. 1 through Oct. 9.

Reservations for both shows can be made by calling the Beef & Boards box office at (317) 872-9664. For more information, visit www.beefandboards.com.

YMCA before and after school programs

Now that most children are back in school, it is time to sign up for the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis’ Before and After School programs. The Y is the largest provider of school-age programs in the Indianapolis area, and offers a challenging and fun curriculum.

The program is designed to meet the needs of both kids and working parents, with morning care hours from 6:30 or 7 a.m. until school starts (opening time varies by school district) and after care hours from the end of the school day until 6 p.m. Full day care is available on days that schools are not in session. As with all Y programs, fees and membership dues are determined by a sliding scale based on household income.

Full details on the program and participating locations can be found at: http://www.indymca.org/classes-programs/child-care/before-after-school-registration/.

‘The Exonerated’

Butler Theatre and Heartland Actors’ Repertory Theatre will present a free performance of “The Exonerated” Aug. 28 at 8 p.m. in Lilly Hall Studio Theatre 168 on the Butler University campus.

“The Exonerated” uses actual words of individuals who were found innocent after years of awaiting execution on death row.

In conjunction with “The Exonerated,” on Sept. 6 at 7 p.m. in Butler’s Reilly Room, famed author Sister Helen Prejean, author of Dead Man Walking, will discuss her life’s work as an eyewitness to the death penalty.

For more information, call (317) 940-9247.
