Volunteer opportunities still available for Mozel Sanders dinner

Anyone looking to give back to a great cause on Thanksgiving or the day after can still find opportunities to help with the annual Mozel Sanders Thanksgiving Dinner.

Organizers said this year’s event has had a great response from volunteers, but there are still some spots to be filled.

At press time, volunteer slots were still available at both Butler University and Friendship Missionary Baptist Church. Volunteers are still needed for deliveries and cleanup shifts at various times, including the day after Thanksgiving.

Organizers said on Tuesday afternoon they were still about $24,000 short of the year’s fundraising goal, but a fundraising event with Hardee’s and a two-night charity gospel concert hadn’t yet happened.

This year, the Mozel Sanders Foundation plans to prepare 40,000 Thanksgiving meals. Anyone who would like to request a meal can call (317) 636-7985, and requests can be made even on the day of the dinner.
