The Jim and Cheryl Caldwell Foundation will open the second Project Phoenix Learning Center at Flanner House on Oct. 7, at 4 p.m.
Flanner House has served the Indianapolis community since 1898 by providing educational, social and economic resources to families and youth. In 2002, Flanner House expanded its reach by starting the Flanner House Elementary Charter School. Today, the school serves nearly 250 youth in grades K-6.
The Jim & Cheryl Caldwell Foundation seeks to enhance selected community centers by creating 21st Century Learning Centers for children in underserved communities. These Project Phoenix Learning Centers offer a positive environment of educational hardware and software that is supplemental to student learning. The first Project Learning Center was unveiled in October 2010 at the Hawthorn Community Center on the Near Westside.
