Jump into fitness with Kangoo Power

A Kangoo Power class hooked Vanessa Rogers, Shanita Rhinehart and Trinia Partee after trying it just once.

Rogers loved it so much that she became an instructor a month after taking her first class.

“The shoes absorb up to 80 percent impact,” Rogers said. “It’s really easy on your knees and back. You can burn up to 1,500 calories in one hour in this class.”

The shoes, called Kangoo Jumps rebound shoes and initially invented for injured runners, look like ski boots with a springy contraption on the bottom. The spring acts as a trampoline, making it easy to jump without heavily affecting joints.

Friends invited both Rhinehart and Partee to a class. Both say the class has not only helped them lose weight but makes exercise fun. Rhinehart, 36, Indianapolis, is so dedicated to the class that she drives from her far westside home to Incrediplex on the far eastside every Saturday morning.

“I’m an adventurous type of person, and I just thought the shoes looked very different and fun, so I just thought I’d give it a try,” Rhinehart said. “It’s more like a sisterhood, and Vanessa just has a really sweet spirit and is always just encouraging.”

Since she started class in September 2017, Partee, 36, McCordsville, a self-described exercise hater, has lost 41 pounds, held private parties and even bought her own boots, which cost around $300 a pair.

“It’s a unique approach to weight loss and just becoming healthy,” Partee said. “My mom goes too. I’ve invited so many people.”

Rogers also is a certified Zumba instructor, but for now Kangoo Power is her life. She’s certified in Kangoo Bootcamp and Kangoo Dance, which fall under the Kangoo Power umbrella. She left her job as a registered nurse to become a full-time entrepreneur.

“We offer bounce parties,” Rogers said. “We can do it pretty much anywhere. I just did one at a nail salon.”

Kangoo Power is open to all ages and fitness levels. Rogers has someone show modifications to her moves as she teaches so everyone can participate throughout the class.

“The oldest person that came to my class — a student brought her father — he was 77,” Rogers said. “He jumped from the beginning of class to the end of class. He did very well.”

Additionally, Rogers recently wrote a book, “The Miz CEO Book: For Female Entrepreneurs by Female Entrepreneurs” with other women.
