The Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD) is set to offer a free, four-part diabetes education series titled “The ABCs of Diabetes” this April at the Franklin Road Branch of the Indianapolis Public Library (IndyPL).

The program provides adults diagnosed with diabetes or pre-diabetes, along with their family members and friends, with essential knowledge and resources to manage and prevent diabetes effectively.

The classes are scheduled for 1:30-3:30 p.m. April 9, 16, 23 and 30 at 5550 S. Franklin Road. Participants are encouraged to attend all four sessions. The program covers a range of topics, including:
- Medications: Understanding the role of medications in diabetes management.
- Nutrition: Learning about healthy eating habits and meal planning.
- Exercise: Incorporating physical activity into daily routines.
- Monitoring: Techniques for regular blood sugar monitoring.
- Complications: Identifying and preventing potential diabetes-related complications.
- Community resources: Accessing local resources for ongoing support.
The program is accredited by the Association of Diabetes Care & Education Specialists.
