Earth Day may be over, but opportunities to get outside and support the environment continue across Central Indiana. From cleanups to festivals and hands-on nature programs, here are verified events happening in May and June 2026, organized by date. 

Garfield Park Conservatory Spring Program 

When: May 2,  10- 11:30 a.m. 
Where: Garfield Park Conservatory and Gardens, 2505 Conservatory Dr. 

This Indy Parks–hosted program offers hands-on environmental education inside one of the city’s most historic green spaces. The conservatory features tropical plants, seasonal displays and sustainability-focused programming throughout the year.

Eagle Creek Park Birding Hike 

When: May 9, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Where: Eagle Creek Park, 6515 Delong Rd.  

Celebrate peak migration season with a guided birding hike through one of the largest municipal parks in the country, led by local naturalists.

Holliday Park Volunteer Stewardship Day 

When: May 16, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 
Where: Holliday Park, 6363 Spring Mill Rd. 

Join park staff and volunteers to remove invasive species, maintain trails and support habitat restoration efforts along the White River.

EarthFest 2026 

When: May 30, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
Where: Garfield Park, 6363 Spring Mill Rd. 

Hosted by Earth Day Indiana, this annual festival features more than 80 environmental exhibitors, live music, food vendors and sustainability-focused activities for all ages.

Indiana State Parks Free Fishing Day & Outdoor Recreation Events 

When: June 6, all day 
Where: Indiana State Parks locations statewide 

Enjoy free fishing (no license required) along with additional outdoor programming that encourages residents to connect with Indiana’s natural resources.

White River Cleanup with Friends of the White River 

When: June 6, 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 
Where: Wendell Phillips School #63, 1163 N. Belmont Ave. 

Help remove trash and debris from the White River during this community cleanup event focused on protecting local waterways.

Garfield Park Conservatory Bonsai Show 

When: June 6, 10a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Where: Garfield Park Conservatory and Gardens 

Presented with the Indianapolis Bonsai Club, this exhibit showcases curated bonsai specimens with experts on site to answer questions and discuss plant care.
