My child needs to learn how to drive….HELP!

More by this author

Your child needs to learn how to drive. You have attempted to teach them independently, but only to experience frustration and a lack of patience during the process. As a result, you consider enrolling your child in a driver education academy or school to ensure the driving mission can be accomplished.  However, you do not know the benefits or long-term impact of enrolling your potential driver in driver education. There are major benefits to enrolling your child in driver education: (1) reduced number of fatal accidents and violations, (2) confidence behind the wheel and (3) lower insurance premiums.

Road traffic injuries are considered a major threat to public health, which can impact the physical, psychological and financial security of a family. The leading cause of death for individuals aged 4-34 is road traffic injury, which is predicted to be the fifth leading cause of death by 2030. To help reduce these numbers and promote safe and legal driving, parents should strongly consider enrolling their student in a driver academy (www.circlecitydrivingacademy.com).

Secondly, the ability to effectively operate a motor vehicle provides access and engagement in the world in which we live. When there is fear and a lack of confidence in driving, mobility is compromised, and has the potential to result in anxiety or a feeling of not wanting to drive at all. Anxiety can be exacerbated by merely sitting, approaching or passing another car. When a student is enrolled at a driver education academy (www.circlecitydrivingacademy.com), they are required to enroll in 30 hours of asynchronous education, plus six one-hour drives in a state approved driver education vehicle. Once students successfully complete these components, they have the confidence to operate a motor vehicle safely and legally.

Lastly, when new drivers obtain their license, they should be properly insured. However, car insurance can be very expensive for teens because they are classified as high-risk drivers. Students can receive insurance discounts of up to 15% when they enroll in and successfully complete driver education. Insurance companies consider teens who successfully complete driver education as more responsible and less likely to cause car accidents. If your goal is to save money, enrolling your child in a driver education academy (www.circlecitydrivingacademy.com) is highly recommended.
