Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre is celebrating tradition with “Fiddler on the Roof” this fall.

The nine-time Tony Award-winning musical celebrates its 60th anniversary this year, closing out Beef & Board’s 2024 season with the addition of two more performances before closing Nov. 24.

“Fiddler on the Roof” follows the story of Tevye (Douglas E. Stark), a poor dairyman who wants nothing more than to protect his five daughters, ensuring they live good lives and remain faithful to God in the midst of an ever-changing political landscape and social principles.

“Fiddler on the Roof” is a longstanding tradition for Beef & Boards, which has produced the show eight times since Stark became the owner of the establishment in 1980. Stark is reprising the role of Tevye, having played the role in each production — as well as in a few at other theaters. He said the opportunity to play Tevye is special because “It represents family.”

“It’s the perfect mixture of a very touching story, but it still has a universal appeal,” Stark said in a statement. “The role fits me. It fits my personality … the more I’ve experienced life, the more I can bring to the character.”

The show features heartfelt moments, celebratory dancing, laughter and love as well as iconic songs “Sunrise, Sunset,” “If I Were a Rich Man,” “Miracle of Miracles” and “Matchmaker, Matchmaker.”

“Fiddler on the Roof” is showing at Beef & Boards Dinner Theatre, 9301 Michigan Road, for 52 performances through Nov. 24 weekdays and Saturday evenings at 8 p.m., Sunday evenings 7 p.m. and select matinees at 1 p.m. with the addition of an evening performance on Nov. 20 and matinee on Nov. 9. The show is rated PG, and children under 3 years old are not permitted.

A dinner buffet and select beverages will be available prior to each show. Tickets range from $55 to $82 and are available to purchase at beefandboards.com.
