Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Dec. 3 that Marcus Anderson has been charged for his alleged role in the murder of Chris Beaty that occurred May 30 in downtown Indianapolis.
The prosecutor’s office said in a statement Anderson, 23, also faces charges related to three robberies that occurred in the area near 400 N. Talbott St. and Vermont Street and that Beaty was shot and killed as he walked through the alley near his apartment building immediately after a robbery had occurred.
The charges against Anderson are murder, felony murder, robbery and pointing a firearm. A charge is an accusation, and defendants are assumed innocent until proven guilty.
Beaty was killed amid the chaos downtown during protests following the police shootings of Dreasjon Reed, George Floyd and others.
