Aviation-themed ice cream shop LiftOff Creamery won the city’s first Vendor of the Month award from the Indianapolis Office of Minority and Women Business Development.

The shop, located at 111 E. 16th St., has been a certified minority business enterprise with the city since 2020. The shop offers ice cream, desserts and shaved ice.

The owner, Ryan Lynch, has experience as a commercial airline pilot. Lynch founded the National Aviation Youth Resources Foundation, a nonprofit that teaches youth about the aviation industry.

“We could not have chosen a better first Vendor of the Month than Ryan Lynch and LiftOff Creamery. OMWBD is proud to have the opportunity to highlight Ryan’s commitment to youth mentorship and development,” David Fredricks, director of OMWBD, said in a press release.

Mayor Joe Hogsett said LiftOff “exemplifies what is so valuable about diversely-owned local businesses.”

OMWBD created the Vendor of the Month initiative to bring attention to certified minority, women, veteran and disabled-owned business enterprises (XBEs) that are making a difference in Indianapolis.

Businesses interested in becoming certified as a minority business enterprise, woman business enterprise, veteran business enterprise or disabled-owned business enterprise can learn more about the process and connect with OMWBD here.
