On Friday, Oct. 11, the Indiana State Museum will stay open late from 6-8 p.m. for their signature Halloween-themed event, Night at the Boo Bash.
The event is for guests of all ages and features interactive games and activities across three floors led by cast members.
Each area is inspired by an exhibit. At Dr. Rose’s Mad Science Lab guests can watch chemical reactions and make their own fizzy bath bombs to take home and at Dunky’s candy wheel visitors can win some pre-Halloween treats. At Cricket’s critter catapults guests can launch plastic insects onto webs and at Ross the Sloth’s Giggle Graveyard, participants can use a UV flashlight to make laughable shapes while other guests measure their shrieks inside the Fred the Mastodon scream booth.
Guests are encouraged to wear costumes to participate in a contest for prizes and dress comfortably for the dance floor.
During the event, Good Night Forest, the museum’s popular seasonal experience will be open and is included with the $12 ticket. The exhibit showcases what animals emerge after the sun goes down, featuring hand-drawn insects by local artist Penelope Dullaghan and specimens from the museum’s collection.
The Night at the Boo Bash is one of many events throughout October. Haunted Happenings continue Wednesdays and Fridays from Oct. 16-25 with Twilight Tales. Each evening features two tour opportunities: the Strange Encounters Tour at 7 p.m. designed for families and the Beyond the Grave Tour at 8:30 p.m. for adults. These after-hours activities will guide guests through exhibits with flashlights. Tickets are $20 per person.
