Indiana State Representative Cherrish Pryor (D-Indianapolis) is set to host a town hall this weekend to discuss property taxes and deductions available to Homestead property owners.
Pryor, of House District 9, will be joined by the Indianapolis delegation of the Indiana Black Legislative Caucus for the town hall April 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at Progressive Baptist Church.
“For years, rising property taxes have forced Hoosiers out of their homes and neighborhoods,” Pryor said in a statement. “As lawmakers and community leaders, it is critically important that we inform our constituents about the resources available to them while simultaneously working to pass legislation and put safeguards in place to help.”
Pryor and the IBLC plan to answer any questions from the community concerning property taxes. Current legislation related to property taxes — including Senate Bill 46 — will also be up for discussion.
“I’m looking forward to meeting with Indianapolis residents on Saturday to address their thoughts and concerns and urge anyone with questions about their property tax bill to attend,” Pryor said in a statement.
The town hall will take place April 22 at the Progressive Baptist Church, 4625 W. 59th St. from 10 a.m. to noon. For more information on the event or to RSVP to attend, contact Pryor’s office by emailing h94@iga.in.gov.
