The Alpha Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. and Ivy Endowment Inc.’s 38th Annual Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Ball, “The Epitome of Elegance,” will be held on November 10, 2024 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom. Hosts for the event will be Denise Herd, President of Herd Strategies, and Temara Payton, Founder of Eighty-One-Face and Body.
The Debutante Cotillion Ball is a formal presentation to society of twenty-four astounding young ladies attending high school in the Indianapolis area. The Ball is the culminating event of the Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Program; it is designed to foster academic excellence and civic leadership in college-bound high school juniors and seniors. The mission of the program is to enhance personal development through structured educational workshops and to promote high ethical standards, character development, good citizenship and social graces during these young ladies’ formative years.
Our mission by way of this program is achieved through the Debutantes’ participation in a six-month curriculum consisting of workshops, activities, community service and rehearsals. This year, the Debutantes engaged in community service and participated in several sessions focusing on college readiness, etiquette, political action and entrepreneurship.
During the Cotillion Ball, our 38th Debutante Queen will be crowned, and each Debutante will be awarded a scholarship for her academic achievement, service, fundraising efforts and overall dedication to the Debutante Cotillion and Scholarship Program. In addition, the Debutante Cotillion Ball will feature dance presentations from not only the Debutantes themselves, but their fathers and escorts as well. We want to thank choreographers Karsia Slaughter of Volume Performance Center and Sean Tucker of Main Atraksean Dance Co. for their creativity and dedication to capturing the elegance of this year’s Debutantes.
